Hamro Chhahari office bearers travelled to Singtam, Sikkim, for a Bhetghat Karyakram with the Nepali Gorkha Dharmashala — a fellow community organisation supporting travellers and patients passing through the region.

The meeting was an exchange of working notes — how each organisation manages bookings, dietary needs, hospital coordination and emergency referrals. Both sides walked away with practical ideas to streamline patient handovers when families travel from Sikkim to Mumbai or Kolkata for treatment.

A formal understanding was reached for warm referrals between the two networks: any patient family supported by one organisation can now be passed along to the other with a single phone call, sparing them the work of starting from scratch in a new city.

Outreach trips like Singtam build the quiet infrastructure that makes long journeys possible — the trust between organisations that finally translates, on the ground, into a bed and a hot meal for a patient who needs them.
