Our team distributed sweets, fruits and toys to children undergoing treatment at Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel — coordinated with hospital administration through the office of Hamro Chhahari Mumbai.
On World Cancer Day, the paediatric ward at Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel, lit up with a small celebration organised by Hamro Chhahari volunteers. Sweets, fresh fruits, story books and soft toys were distributed to every child undergoing treatment in the ward.
The visit was coordinated with the hospital administration to ensure all gifts were vetted for hygiene and dietary safety. Volunteers spent time with the families, listening to their journeys and noting down those in need of accommodation support during follow-up visits.
'These children fight battles most adults will never face,' said one of our coordinators. 'A small bag of toys cannot cure them — but for one afternoon, it lets them be children again.'
Hamro Chhahari's bond with Tata Memorial is decades old. Every patient referred from the hospital's social services desk to our Chembur ashram begins a relationship that often lasts well beyond the treatment itself.
