Hamro Chhahari members joined the West-to-East awareness ride covering thousands of kilometres to spread cancer awareness — flagged off in collaboration with Nepali Gorkha Sewa Samiti, Mumbai.
Flagged off from Chembur, Mumbai, the Anti-Cancer Awareness Bike Rally rolled across more than a dozen states on its way to Gangtok, Sikkim. Riders from Hamro Chhahari joined hands with Nepali Gorkha Sewa Samiti, Mumbai, to carry one simple message — early detection saves lives.
Along the route, the convoy halted at towns and villages where cancer awareness rarely reaches. Volunteers distributed printed material in Nepali and Hindi, hosted short street meetings, and shared the stories of survivors who had once travelled to Mumbai for treatment with nothing but hope.
The rally crossed Maharashtra, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and finally entered Sikkim — culminating in a community gathering at Gangtok where local doctors and patient groups joined the closing ceremony.
For Hamro Chhahari, the ride is more than a campaign. It is a yearly reminder of why the ashrams exist — and a chance to meet, in person, the families that may one day need a bed in our shelter.
